I drove to three interviews this week, I was told I was hired, later received a call stating the contractor requires applicant to be bilingual. This is a bunch of bull, I don't live in Mexico. Go back home.

I agree, English should be the only required language for jobs in America; however the reality is that many citizens of other countries inhabit the US.
It takes time to learn another language for people, especially adults and I'm sure it's easier to require that the person with a US education speaks a 2nd language if many of the job's clients speak that language.

It's not the language barrier that should bother you, its that they don't know english at all which is part of the US citizenship test, or at least it used to be.

illegal immigration affects all of us and must be changed.

Well, it could be worse. What if the other language was Russian or Japanese. (Japanese is rated at the most difficult language to learn because they use Chinese characters interspersed in with the Japanese characters)

What seems to be forgotten is that at some point we all come from immigrant stock. (If you think everybody or even a majority came through official channels, do the math) The ability to converse in multiple languages shouldn't be scorned, I believe it should be admired. It begs to ask, how many of the "English Uber Alles Crowd" might be at least bi-lingual? If things were a little different, Dutch, French, or SPANISH might be the dominant language here. I believe it enriches our culture to embrace our melting pot history, and to do so, embrace the multitude of cultures that make us up. Wishing I was bi-lingual, coyote
