Trojan Horse is only alluded to in Homer's Odyssey. The earliest stories of it are told in ancient Greek fragments called 'The Little Iliad' and the 'Sack of Ilion'. Homer's Iliad and Odyssey are dated to around 7th century BC (with the re-introduction of writing)and it is currently believed that these two other works date from around the same time or only a little later. There are also much later epics that talk about the Trojan Horse, namely Vergil's 'Aeaneid' and Quintus of Smyrna. But these are all AD. Four famous people would be Odysseus (in Latin he is called Ulysses), Menelaos (husband of Helen of Troy) and Diomedes in the horse (the Greeks) and Priam and Aeneis on the Trojan side (both Hektor and Paris are dead by this time). The main gods of the Greeks (also called by Homer Achaeans) were Zeus and Athena while the Trojans mostly worshipped Apollo. But the walls of Troy had been built by both Poseidon and Apollo so Poseidon is also a protector of Troy. Hope this answers your question.
