Tigers -- Panthera tigris -- live in Asia. They range from Indonesia north to Siberia. Historically they also occupied a disjunct range stretching from the Caspian Sea to eastern China.
The "tigre" of South America is the jaguar, Panthera onca. It is not striped like the Asian tiger, and is a bit smaller. Striped tigers do not occur in the Americas, nor do they live in Africa or Australia.
The largest tigers are found in Siberia.
