If you go to a lodge that is sanctioned by 'elders' in the community where ceremonies are done with regularity, you will be in contact with 'sweat conductors'. These are people who have been given the right to conduct ceremonies after going through an 'apprenticeship' with a learned elder. Usually the apprenticeship (for lack of a better word) is 5-10 years and in other cases more because learning is a life-time work.
Prior to entering the lodge, the story of the first sweat is told to those in the circle. Because it is a sacred teaching, it cannot be written here. You have to experience the ceremony to know.
