Where are the buzzers on apartment elevators that go off when the button is pushed to request an elevator?
The ones in my apartment building are loud and go off the entire time the elevator is moving from whatever floor it was on until it reaches the floor the button was pushed on. I am two apartments away from the elevators and the buzzer comes through the bedroom wall and keeps me up day and night. The elevators guys say: "well there is nothing we can do...". I think they left a buzzer on while working on the elevator because it was NOT on all the years I lived here until they serviced it during the last 4 months.

You should contact your apartment supervisor or landlord, it sounds like the buzzer is broken.

Thanks, they don't help. Do you know where the buzzers are located? in the elevator (and where)or in the shaft?

A couple of other things:
The landord, the super and even the elevator service technician certainly can help... it is that they won't help because it is money driven. So we have to address the situation on the basis of safety, reliability or performance. Simple annoyance of one tenant probably will not cut it. However it were all or many tenants that could be a different storey.
Should it become a safety concern then can become a building department issue i.e. violations that cost money. The landlord can not simply take the elevator out of service because of ADAAG requirements (handicapped code)in the US. Also in the US there are all kinds of inspection codes depending on how standards are adopted in your jurisdiction.

I have a couple of questions:
Do the doors swing like the door to your apartment?
or
Do they slide behind the wall?
If they slide behind the wall is there a protection device on the doors that reopens the door automatically if you get in the way?
Regarding the device, does it retract when the door nears a fully closed position? This device would be located on the slideing door on the car itself not on the door that is on every floor.
Needless to say the bizzer should not be operating when the car is moving, however depending on age a elevator type there is a buzzer function if keep the doors from closing for too long.
