What was the reaction of the genreal public?

I was very young and did not understand. i thought it was fun. there were lots of people and my parents decided to join after a group walked through our neighborhood inviting others to join. i was not scared the people seemed to be very friendly. just shouting something as we walked along. the day at the police station in whittier calif. i remember walking and marching in a circle around the police station with my mother. some of the people were invited to our house to rest the night and continue the next day. others i beleive spend the night in the park because the next morning as the group passed my mother sisters and me join them.
