You've got the wrong war. The battle of Oriskany took place in 1777, during the American Revolution, nearly 90 years before the Civil War.

British commander Barry St-Leger was leading his troops from Lake Ontario down the Mohawk valley, hoping to link up with General John Burgoyne at Albany. The British plan was to isolate the New England states from the rest of the colonies, in other words, "divide and conquer." But St-Leger's forces were stopped in their tracks at the Battle of Oriskany, and the surrender of Burgoyne's troops at Saratoga was the turning point of the Revolution, as it brought France in as America's first ally.
