If youre wanting an exact number, then it won't ever be accurate because there are always african- american people moving in and out of the city.

That is a really ignorant answer. Of course people move in and out of the city/county. I think the person was asking about the census count. Based on my research, including the Greenville area, the 2009 population of African Americans is around 55,000 out of the total of 174,000 people in the Greenville area. (Metropolitan Statistical Area).
