Replied to:  What are the two methods used for the production of ethanol...
Ethanol can either be produced by the

1)hydration of ethylene
C2H4(g) + H20(l) -> CH3CH2OH(g)
In order for this process to take place, the reaction must take place at approximately 300 degrees celcius in the presence of a catalyst such as concentrated sulfuric acid.

OR

2)by the fermentation of glucose
C6H12O6 -> 2CH3CH2OH(aq) + 2CO2(g) +heat
yeast must be present in this reaction and other conditions which boost the production of ethanol is an anaerobic environment as well as temperatures around 35-40 degrees celcius.
