Weren't the Tuskegee Airmen the first pilots to fly the P-51 Mustangs in combat? Also, did they ever loose a bomber from enemy aircraft fire when flying the P-51's?

No, they weren't. Not even close. The P-51D mustang had been in service for years when the Tuskegee Airmen got them. Yes they did lose a few bombers. It is impossible to not lose a bomber throughout an entire war.

Why would racist people give a new plane type to the people they are racist against, and let them be the first to fight with them?
