We have a 13 year old Min Pin who, for the past 11 years, has been a wonderful dog. But lately she is acting very strange. It seems as if she has forgotten what the outdoors is for. We take her out for potty brakes and she panics and races for the door and then going to the bathroom inside. Before she was totally housetrained but has forgotten everything she has ever known. Is this normal for older dogs? What can be done?

Two things come to mind.
1. Could something negative have happened to her in the area she usually "goes" in? Try taking her to a completely different area - if possible.

2. A stroke might make her forget completely what she is supposed to do outside. I don't know if a vet could confirm that something like that had happened. If that is what happened she will just have to be retrained - like a young dog - many trips outside for longer than usual times.

Nice looking little lady - good luck.
