Was there any usage of Depleted Uranium in the actual building of this ship and/or in this ship's weaponry system?

Also, any vietnam veterans assigned to this ship put in a VA Claim for Compensation and Pension for benefits and was awarded compensation from what medical conditions resulting from radiation poisoning from Depleted Uranium, asbestos, agent orange, and post traumatic stress?

Thank-you.

DU is so weakly radioactive that it does not cause radiation poisoning. This forum has a number of excellent articles about uranium, including DU. The USS Mobile LKA-115 was not armed with the Phalanx Close-In-Weapons System and the Navy had no other shipboard guns or cannon that fired a DU round. The CIWS no longer was provisioned with the DU rounds, which were not being fired against armored targets and were replaced with tungsten, after the early 1990s. The ship may have been exposed to Agent Orange and if you were on the ship during its Vietnam service, you should check with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
