Was there a battle over Jerusalem? I have heard that the Ottomans left the City without fighting because a roumor had spred that in addition to the army of Allenby also Laurence of Arabia had come to Jerusalem and was waiting to attack from a different angle. Those were false roumors of course, but they caused the Turks to leave through the Damascus Gate without fight.
