Verbal Abuse on Mount Ainslie

As I, a single female, walked my two dogs (on leash) at Mount Ainslie today, two strangers ran by me and had to step around my dogs. On passing, one yelled, "Stupid F*&&ing dogs!!!" I felt quite intimidated and furious that I should be so treated in a community space while obeying the regulations of said space. My dogs are small and not aggressive, they didn't bark or otherwise offend the runners except by their presence. I had moved off the track to let the runners go by on a single lane, yet one seemed unprepared to do the same. I propose that Mount Ainslie have areas for "slow travel" - those who wish to enjoy the tracks and nature at a walking pace, not being pursued by runners and bike riders who, while mostly friendly and courteous, can inadvertently collide with my slower pace. I would also hope that the person who made such a foul and offensive comment, realise that he is the pot calling the kettle black. My dogs may not be too bright but if he wishes to do a timed running trial, may he do it on a track designed for the purpose or not complain about those who are entitled to walk in an area with their pets. I don't appreciate having to take in the foetid smell of his body odour but don't scream at him to complain about it when he is on his own with a much larger male friend by my side. Please let our nature reserves stay amicable and be considerate of fellow users.
Saddened by the lack of neighbourly companionship and courtesy,
Lisa
