The increase in wheat prices worldwide is affected by more than the supply and demand of wheat alone. The cost of transportation, energy to process the wheat, market speculation and monetary policies are some of the factors driving up the price of not only wheat but everything else. OPEC,s demand for 80 US dollars minimum per barrel of oil, plus market speculation/manipulation will be met to maintain thier standards of living. Printing more money degrades its worth, making too many dollars for limited goods causes inflation, driving up the price of goods. The biggest challenge of all this is regulating greed. All those in power to regulate greed, refuse to do so because that would mean they would have to do with less. So supply and demand of wheat reaches up to your elected or unelected officials who do not wish to make your life easier at thier own expense.
