Time and motion study

I am the manager of a small not for profit. I have been asked by our board or trustees, to whom I report, to do a time and motion study of how I use my time. The period of the study is just over 3 weeks.

We are in a period of change and the mix of how my time is spent can vary significantly from one month to the next. My concern is that such a short duration study of a management position will not give a fair and reasonable view of how i spend my time and that a period of 3 months would far better capture what the work entails.

Does anyone have any experience or insights please?

Sounds to me like you've got a good point. Have you tried explaining this to the board? They may be concerned about the costs involved in a longer study.
