Viidalepp
There are two Remiformvalva spp (Geometridae: Geometrinae: Thalassodini)in Papua New Guinea with white line along dorsum of abdomen, both green with white strigulae.
Warren (1997) described Thalassodes viridicaput with green front of head. Inoue (2006) pictured genitalia and refers to brown front in this species.
Remiformvalva spp differ in build of the sternite A8 of male.
One species has green front of head and the sternite A8 with four thorns or setae to centre of posterior margin of the sternite, the two stout setae laterally and two thinner centrally, fitting with Fig. 97 in Inoue (1996).
The second series has front of head brown and the middle setae basally fused Y-shaped.
Which of these ought to be viridicaput Warren? The colour of frons usually is a diagnostic character in Thalassodini.
