There are many of us all over North America who have an oral history in their family of a Native American ancestor who was of the Tuckahoe Tribe. My GrGr Grandmother was born in Kentucky in 1822, her last name was Russell but so far we have been unable to find any paperwork that indicates who her parents were. Other census refer to her birthplace as Tennessee. These states seem in line with the references of others with the same oral history. Has anyone stumbled upon any concrete reference to these people? The suggestion has been made that they were a part of the Cherokee nation.
