I've come to the sad realization that I need a China-issued credit card. I've been using my Australian credit card on business trips and am losing a crapload of money with the multiple exchange rates it goes through.

Bejing and Shangai, both very impressive until you wander the back street and see the grinding poverty of the ordinary chinese people.
I found the political leaders to be very ordinary and plebian. Totally oppressive. They rely on the thuggish military to remain in power. I found the lack of freedom to wander and speak to strangers oppressive. I found the constantly watchful officals disturbing.
I found the average chinese delightful and very curious about the world outside china.
I loved the underground art movements, now emerging into the light and the developmenting music scenes are astounding.
China has a wondrful history and is slowly emerging into the modern world. More power to her and more freedom for her people.
