The logic is wrong ..

Sandy replied like an engmatic Pope: 'If you did not betray us it is impossible that you could have been betrayed by us. The word betrayed does not apply ...' That does not make sense. What would make sense is 'If you BETRAYED us it is impossible you could have been betrayed by us ...' Then the word betrayed would indeed not apply. After all, as Sandy says later, 'It's only possible to betray where loyalty is due.' But Sandy couldn't have said the version that makes sense, not to Miss Brodie's face .. so what gives?

OK
