The company in which i work requires that every truck has a fire extinguisher on it. the tags that are on the extinguishers keep blowing off or getting lost, is it OK to remove the tag and keep it in the glove box of the truck it is on or does the tag have to remain on the extinguisher itself? Also does an employee have to sign off on th eextinguisher once a month to make the extinguisher legal?

Hi
I work for a fire extinguisher company and I would advise that perhaps you could get an extinguisher cover or in most cases, when we sell fire extinguishers for vehicles we would have them housed in an extinguisher cabinet at the rear of the vehicle, this would prevent this reoccuring but all in all the tags have to remain on the fire extinguisher and it is never ok for an employee to sign off an extinguisher that has not been service by a competent fire extinguisher engineer. It is usually only necessary to have the extinguishers service annually unless they have been discharged or used in which case they need to be tested/refilled. If you would like any further clarification you may check out our website at http//www.sfsarmagh.com where you can contact an engineer with any further queries.
Hope this is useful to you
