The black man who Ving Rhames portrays in the movie is supposedly fictional? However, many black people in my hometown of Lawtey, Florida say differently. They tell stories that this man was on account "real" and came to Lawtey often from Baker County (Macclenny, Florida). He was notorious for his skill with pistols and was actually feared by many because of his skills, including white people during that time? Does anyone else know of this?
