The Union rep for 20 years in my dept.suddenly retired December 2009. I expressed an interest in applying for the position or any position that seemed of interest to me in the union. I was told by the self appointed Union Rep.of the dept.that all the positions had been filled by other employees. WHEN. There was no election. After making several phone calls to Washington DC,(Union Organizer)
Philadelphia and NJ, requesting a copy of the Bylaws a copy of the Bylaws was handed to today. The front of the ByLaws Manual reads "approved in March 2006." I have been in this Union for 10 + years. This is the first time I have ever seen a ByLaws Manual. According to the ByLaws we should have had Union meeting bi monthly. Never happened in this union. I PAY 75.00 PER MONTH UNION DUES FOR 10 YEARS. What if any, legal action can I take against the union. Does the Union rep. Chair person get paid for holding this position???
