I arrived in late November of 1968 and was assigned to night shift security (Tiger Flight). Near the end of my tour I extended for six months and remained at Tuy Hoa until 4 Jul, 1970. The whole time I was assined to Tiger Flight and pulled duty on all of the different types of posts, and probably half of all the perimeter posts, finally ending up in the metal tower (Oscar 18, I believe) on the beach across from the NCO club. The morning of my departure (Jul 4) we were mortared with five sorties of rounds. There was physical damage to some buildings and grounds, but apparently no one was killed or injured.
