I am a Vintage radio enthusiast as well as an amateur astronomer.
At present I am trying to find details of the circuit arrangements for the BBC regional stations started in 1924.
Some contemporary info that I have suggests that they had a
simpler arrangement than the main London station 2LO.
2LO had some features that modern engineers find very
weird indeed especially in the modulator and some of us are of the opinion that the regional's used a simplified circuit to reduce technical problems that 2LO may have had, as well as saving money for the company.
