I had thought in the beginning of the story that Susan would never go along with such a terrible act, but it makes me wonder if she's smarter than everyone thinks and was playing "good innocent girl" the whole time and had had no true moral standards of her own.

Maybe she's like the master of disguise. she can act like one person, but can be a complete opposite

She won't care, but, I just think that she was easily persuaded and was afraid to stick up for what she believed in. I also think that she was to dumbfounded that they had "accepted" her to think rationally.

I agree. I know she seems like a nice girl in the beginning of the story, but Susan is kind of pathetic. I don't feel sorry for her. What I do feel is that she had the capability of self-control and honestly should have used it. People like Susan are how people like Mark can be so successful in their bad-doings and wrongs throughout life. People like Mark need someone to do all their little dirty work so they pick out the weaker links. It really reminds me of an episode of Law & Order I saw yesterday when a little boy murdered a woman (I think a teacher even) for money but used an outcast "weird" kid who desired fitting in all along. Anyway, the outcast gets all the blame and the true murderer escapes. Ah, life these days. I'm a teen and even I can see how awful the things around me are.
