Spam is legally permissible according to the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 provided it follows certain criteria: a truthful subject line; no false information in the technical headers or sender address; "conspicuous" display of the postal address of the sender; and other minor requirements. If the spam fails to comply with any of these requirements, then it is illegal. Aggravated or accelerated penalties apply if the spammer harvested the email addresses using methods described earlier.

I have recently purchased a product from a company using a web-site that contains a non-existent mailing address which is listed as being in Richmond, Virginia (USA)! After mailing a letter to this company regarding the product I purchased via the internet, it was returned to me by the US Postal Service stating that no such address existed. I then called the telephone company for the phone number of the person & her company that sold me the product and was advised by the telephone company there is absolutely no phone number for the individual or the business in their listings!

In short, the senders actual mailing address listed on the web-site does not exist.

How and to whom do I report this false information! I have paid money for my product (US Dollars), received the product from someplace in Malaysia & have to return the product to the Malaysian based sender at my own expense, get a receipt from the USPS confirming that I returned the product (which had a GUARANTEED REFUND program for 60 days if I did not like the item & returned it....never knowing my Visa payment was going to a company in Malaysia via PayPal, an Omaha Nebraska firm that acted as the conduit for my Visa payment).
I am returning the item as advised by my USA Bank credit card company & will advise them of my USPS receipt info & then wait and see if the seller will give me back my money for the returned product or if my Visa bank Co. will secure the refund...if at all.

Please let me know how to report this web-site advertiser to the proper authorities so no one else has to go through the misery I have suffered in this transaction which I assum ed/presumed was with a company that had a legitimate USA mailing address & phone number as opposed to some phone number in a country whose initial phone # starts with a +65(?).

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY & ALL HELP YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GIVE ME!
