Someone once told me that Alan P had written a play (I think for Radio or TV) in which a veteran International Brigader who went back to Spain in the late 1970s (after Franco's death). A TV production team accompanies him in order to make a documentary. They visit various villages and battle sites but the man either cannot recall anything at all or at best gets everything wrong. No-one they ask can remember him, and all deny that the Brigaders ever visited the vicinity. Meanwhile, the subject spends a great deal of time and money in bars and brothels, and the whole enterprise ends in farce. It turns out that the claim to be a 'volunteer for liberty' was fraudulent. The ex-vet had gone too far, and whereas before he had never had to buy his own pint in the Labour Club and elsewhere, he now became the best-known pariah in Tyneside...

I've tried to trace this item in every AP web page which seemed promising, with no result. Can any member help?
