So someone I know is abroad & his employer, here in the US, is issuing him a paycheck, which he is not here to receive. He got his employer to agree to make the check out in my name, & upon receipt of the check I'm to electronically transfer the funds to him. He's presently in South Africa on a job site, and his employer is issuing him payment in US dollars. It would take longer for the check to clear in South Africa than here in the US. I don't mind acting as the go-between. My only concern is that I'll somehow be taxed on the amount of money I receive on his behalf. Will I be taxed?
