What I am asking is why change the name of Osiris to Serapis? Is he the same god or did serapis become detached from the original syncretic amalgamations? Could it be possible that the syncretic god serapis became a type of precursor to a monotheistic deity mixed with both Hellenic and Egyptian gods? basically Im confused. So any advice would be helpful.
