It seems that the liberals who want us to pull out and limp home have forgotten why we are in Afghanistan in the first place. We simply cannot allow a base of operations for the extremists who want to kill us.

I think we would all prefer the battlefield to be in Afghanistan than in New York or Washington D.C.

This war stopped being about Al-Qaeda years ago. The CIA says there are fewer than 100 Al-Qaeda fighters in the country.

The war is more about ego now. The commanders in Afghanistan and at the pentagon don't want to admit defeat and be blamed for a lost war. The civilian leadership (Obama and Gates) want out, but the generals are very good at crafting political strategies that ensure they get what they want.

Its easier to kill a mosquito with a fly swatter then with a sledge hammer. The battlefield started on 9-11.
