I am a long time member of Nichiren Daishonin's True Buddhism.
The SGI was a lay organizaition which was given permission to propagate Nichiren Daishonin's True Buddhism by 88th. High Priest Nittatsu Shonin. He instructed them to keep the Daishonin's teachings Pure and to not interpret these teachings in anyway other than as the Daishonin taught.
The leader of the SGI, Daisaku Ikeda then began to launch his plan to accomplish his own desire to become Prime Minister of Japan by recruiting as many people as possible into this Buddhism under the guise of studying Nichiren Daishonin's True Buddhism.
Ikeda amassed millions and millions of dollars by having books written for him and then putting his name to the books as though he had written them and then through his vice presidents and other appointed leaders in his organization, he sold these books published a magazine and a newspaper which the organization also pushed the membership to buy on a weekly basis. Do the math. With millions of members in Japan and the U.S. it didn't tale long before the money grew to staggering amounts.
Needless to say, True Buddhism was the last thing on his agenda. If he could amass so much money as well as recruit millions of Japanese members he just might have a shot at becoming Japan's Prime Minister. That has not happened but the SGI OWNS a political party in Japan called the Kometo.
SGI deviated so far away from Nichiren Daishonin's True Buddhism and slandered the True Law and the Three Great Secret Law and the Three Great Secret Treasures of Nichiren Shoshu that the only course for High Priest Nikken Shonin was to admonish them.
SGI's response was to send High Priest Nikken a bullet with his name on it. They shot up the Head Temple grounds with automatic weapons and the government of Japan sent military to surround the Head Temople Taiseki-ji to protect from SGI.
SGI kidnapped one of Nichiren Shoshu's Priests and held him for ransom and threatened the lives of many many other Chief Priests and so much more.
SGI is an evil organization more like a cult than anything else and the members are much like the people led by Jim Jones in Jonestown. They follow blindly, without question whatever they are instructed by the so-called leaders and the members know nothing of the truth of what has transpired. Everything they are told has been colored to fit Ikeda's purpose.
High Priest Nikken Shonin has protected Nichiren Daishonin's True Buddhism and the True Object of Worship, The Daigohonzon. He protected all the True lay believers, (the Hokkeko) and since excommunicating the SGI High Priest Nikken Shonin has repaired many temples and built many others.
The Shohondo was demolished because not only was it in deplorable condition to house the True Object of Worship, The Dai-Gohonzon, it was also built by slanders of the True Law and therefore was not an appropriate house for the Only True Object of Worship, the Dai-Gohonzon.
I just wanted to set the record straight. I've been a member of Nichiren Shoshu through all of this and was a member of SGI until the dispute came to an impossible position in 1990.
My choice to leave SGI was based on the fact that they didn't teach the Daishonin's Buddhism. They only want to talk about Daisaku Ikeda as though he was something exceptional when in fact he is just a con artist making millions off the unsuspecting people who follow him and not the True Teachings of Nichiren Daishonin.
