Correction to post on our 1956 expedition to Napier mountains. While my colleague and friend Terry Elkins was a member of the Mawson expedition that year he was not with us in Enderby Land. My comrades there were Ric Ruker and Ken Bennett, who merit praise for their fortitude and commitment.

A large part of the significance of this journey was that we were dropped some hundreds of miles from our wintering base at Mawson, with 2 dog teams, on the previously never landed upon Enderby Land north coast by the expedition ship while it was returning to Australia in autumn and so were committed to traversing this previously unpenetrated region to return to Mawson before full winter set in. In the event, the journey became quite difficult due to unexpectedly poor weather and the difficulty of the previously unknown terrain.
