Lori Martin, who was born Dawn Menzer, has been reported as living in Oakhurst, Ca. under the name Dawn Breitenbucher, and is listed as deceased now.
They say she died on April 4, 2010 at the age of 62 and there is little to no information on this death.
Wikipedia has listed her as dead, also.
There is a link at the bottom of the IMDB.com page under comments about her death, which gives links to a very brief Obituary in a Madera, Ca. newspaper, and a link to an abc affiliate station showing Dawn, briefly, as an election worker in 2008.
She was a very favorite actress of mine and my sister's in my youth and I am very disappointed to read that she has passed on. I figured, somehow, she would get more longevity out of life. She wasn't even born when Elizabeth Taylor starred in the movie version of National Velvet, yet though she did a television version of National Velvet in the early 60's is already gone. There are many of us who are a bit shocked to see her gone so soon, as she was working a mere yr. and a half before her death.
If anyone has any facts on her cause of death, or events leading up to her death I'd appreciate hearing from you, and it would also be helpful if the media would not snub such a good child actor who worked since ten in Hollywood. It would be better if there were more, official confirmation of her passing. Thanks V.

The cause of her death was due to an illness caused by bipolar which she suffered from since the death of her husband Charles in 1999. A tribute site is on Wike with links to her grave site and fan site.

Here is the family's official website for Lori Martin.

When I went to school with her she was just Dawn Menzer. She was a very sweet girl who was always nice to me, especially when my dad died. She had waist length blond hair that was shorn and dyed black for the role in "National Velvet." I didn't recognize her the last time I saw her (1960) because of the hair. Realized later who she was.
