When the FDR entered the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in July 68 for its 11 month "modernization" does anyone know if asbestes was found or removed from the ship at that time?

I was on board during this period. Asbestos was likely still on board. According to some internet research on asbestos it was still being used until the 70's. As you may know if you were onboard at the time the ship was dirty and dusty with a the shipyard workers working on board. The berthing comparments were updated with air conditioning and also alot of repiping and reinsulating was done.

I have recently found that I have traces of asbestos on my lungs and as I was stationed on the Roosevelt and the USS Hancock CVA-19 I know that was the only time in my life I could have been exposed. After getting out of the Navy I had not been in any type of work that would have exposed me.

I have researched and found that it could take over 40 years to have any signs of exposure to asbestos. Feel free to reply.
