Science has become very competitive, maybe too competitive and open. This can obviously be shown with the FIFTEEN (15!!!) currently "accepted" theories of string theory. 15 theories is a lot! So many different ideas about it. But regardless of what ideas of string theories there are and how many, I feel it is safe that the scientific community could for the most part agree that string theory is the unity between relativity and quantum mechanics, it just needs to be proven.
