Recently it was revealed that the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, dba The Community of Christ, joined the NCC.

The RLDS church does not believe in the orthodox Trinity, and has as its scripture (i.e., the official, final source for all doctrine) the Inspired Version of the Holy Scriptures (edited by Joseph Smith, Jr.), the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants. The official history of the church states that the RLDS church is the original Mormon church founded by Mr. Smith in 1830.

How is it possible for a church that maintains these doctrines as central to its existence become a full-qualified and accepted member of the National Council of Churches?

Seraph
