In the past thousands of years overpopulation didn't occur as occurs during the last 50 to 100 years. Why? Because the rapid advance in the medical field took place only during the above recent decades. So, the medical achievements are responsible for population explosion. With other words, the human brain is doing the damage, but unfortunately is not smart enough to counteract these side-effect of saving lifes. I am afraid, no other form of government than dictatorship is in the position to curb this development. In 20 years this will be generally accepted. In the meantime, political education at our universities should focus on producing a future brand of moderate dictators. Any problems with that? Please don't mention Hitler, he was a frustrated maniac.

Overpopulation has plagued humans for almost as long as humans have existed. Every time we improve our efficiency at getting the resources we need to feed our numbers, our numbers grow. For the past 100-200 years we have managed to improve our efficiency so fast that the population has not reached the limit of what can be provided for in the developed countries, and thus they have not suffered the inevitable rise in childhood mortality that must happen if we continue to average more than two children.

Instead of changing to a dictatorship, I think we should educate everyone so that we all know our moral responsibilities to limit our births.
