One of the best summers of my life had to do with listening to the Red Sox on the radio. Mel Parnell and Ken Coleman play by play was like being THERE! I now live in MN. I had the pleasure of going to a dinner with other baseball fans who remember 1967. It was a bad end of the season for the Twins - a good end of the season for the Sox. To sweep the Twins on that last weekend is a memory that I will take to my grave. It tops the World Series victories of the Sox in the 2000's. This was before expansion and the playoff system and ONE team had to be on top. Remember, there were 10 teams! What a race! The Tigers would have been in the hunt save for the California Angels.

I remember the Sox making up a huge deficit earlier in the season; Yastrzemski making incredible plays in the field - as well at the plate. Dalton Jones and Yaz combined to win a game in Detroit at the old Tiger Stadium.

I had a poster of Yastrzemski on my wall for years! I even purchased the "Impossible Dream" and though the old LP doesn't perform as well in 2010 - it sure brings back memories of my childhood.

I wanted to wish Red Sox Nation a Merry Christmas. Especially, I wanted to wish a Merry Christmas to those 1967 Sox and those who followed them. What a great summer that was!
