I was stationed at North Luffenham 1972 to 1977 in the M.T.Section. During that time the RAF Regiment trained their airmen on Rapier Missles. Many of their drivers had just come out of driver training from St Anthens and the brass hats were very about these young men pulling very expensive equipment around. So experiened drivers of the MT Section were asked to take these "drivers" with them on their long runs to give them experience. The Regiment Sqdr. was 63 Sqdr.RAF Regiment. There nothing in your history of the Station about this.
True Story:- I experienced this my self.At evening times if one stood on the steps of the MT Section hut tea/break room stairs over looking at the Air Field you could hear the air-craft engines start up and the air craft take off.You could also hear them coming back in the morning. This did not happen all the time. Also in the MT huts aircrews wearing ww2 uniforms could be seen. Some of the crew would say " we are going to get gerry again tonight." Some of the drivers went to the Medical people for help over this and some would not say anything at all in the same way pilots or others see UFOS.
Should there be anything else you wish to contact mme about please do.
