I read a few of this writers book, i quite enjoyed them, but it alwasy struck me as odd, that i'm sure in every one i read (about 5 in all) someone alwasy got raped very graphically, now i don't know if it was just put in there to shock you or what, but it just struck me an odd fixation to have.

althogh you could argue that rape is one of the scariest things that can happen to someone?

anyone else ever think of this?

I think rape is one of the scariest and most awful things that could happen to someone, because it is a violation of your most private sensibilities. I hate it when writers use rape just for the shock value, though often it has thematic symbolism to the work. Perhaps there are themes of power, violence and helplessness in his work?
