Railroad Man, from 1963, must be the absolute best ever album that Hank Snow ever made. Other versions of "Last Ride" were recorded, but nowhere near the superb rendition of the version of that song that is on the Railroad Man album. Hank's version of the Jimmie Rodgers song "Waiting for a Train" is totally superb.
Hank was at the absolute pinnacle of his musical career when that album was recorded.
I am amazed that the album was only ever available on vinyl, and RCA Records have not re-released this album on CD.
The music was recorded in Nashville, and produced by the late great Chet Atkins. The Anita Kerr singers provide the vocal accompaniment, to one of the very best country albums of all time.
