A friend just purchased an Aspire One notebook with the German keyboard & Linux system. She is unable to type the "at" symbol (@). It is suppose to be Altgr + Q but it didn't work, even after we changed the language to German. Also tried Altgr + V as recommended by some. No luck. Any suggestions?

We can get the pound sign with Altgr + 5 if that provides anyone with a clue as to what is going on.
