The problem of solid and liquid waste utilization has a great ecological and economical significance for every developed country in the world. Scrap tires the number of which grows more day by day form a specific group of such wastes. The annual amount of used tires in Russia and CIS is more than 1 mln tons. In Europe – more than 3 mln tons. Meanwhile tires are considered to be a very valuable material in the field of utilization as it helps to protect the environment as well as our planet's resources.

Only a small part of scrap tires finds its application today - they can be burned for energy production, mechanically crumbled, renewed or exported. Still all these methods lack some efficiency for a number of reasons: burning a ton of tires produces such a great amount of carbon that this method is hardly called eco-friendly and many countries have developed regulations to prevent them from disposed of improperly; mechanical crumbling is rather an expensive technology that still doesn't solve completely the problem of further utilization of shreddered material; renewal helps to settle the problem only temporarily and export sometimes turns our to be just impossible due to the similar situation almost in every part of the world. The greatest part of scrap tires is simply stored in landfills that become unable to hold such a great amount. But stockpiling of old tires is connected with a number of environmental issues and as a result most states now ban the disposal of whole tires in their landfills.

Nevertheless, the durability and resilience of the materials used to produce tires make them attractive for recycling as a number of other practical products can be obtained. This makes the used tires industry develop and find effective ways for getting valuable uses from waste.

Low-temperature pyrolysis is evaluated as one of the promising solution to the growing disposal problem. Recycling old tires by closed pyrolysis method helps to reduce the quantity of emissions and protect natural resources. As a bonus, if you go about it in the right way, you can also make a profit from old tires recycling.

Many companies, including Technokomplex, offer solutions to this problem helping to turn the scrap tires into productive items. The company Technocomplex manufactures the equipment based on closed pyrolysis and designed for recycling and utilization of rubber- and polymer-containing wastes, oil sludge and waste oils. As a result of mechanical rubber goods and waste tires recycling in the closed pyrolysis unit greater volume of liquid fuel is produced in comparison with the use of open pyrolysis unit. The equipment is highly ecological product which has nearly no emissions. The equipment is automated to the maximum that allows reducing of human labor to elementary operations such as loading and unloading of crucible from the furnace.

The technology allows not only to rid oneself from the problem of stockpiling old tires but hepls production of derived products of better quality as well. Technology underwent tests aimed to its improvement and became ISO 9000 certified.

The equipment which has been sucessfully operating in different parts of Russia for several years already is getting more interest from foreign investors. Now the company Technokomplex has directed its attention to international market. There are already units in Bulgaria and Turkey. At the moment the projects in Europe and USA are being discusssed.

The offered technology and equipment is a practical decision to the problem of waste utilization. There are many more companies becoming interested in such practices and turning to new proven technologies to have a chance for a momentary ecological problem solving in their region.
