I am suffering from severe Diabetics(type 2).I wish to know that apart from medicines what else can we do to keep diabetics under check.

That's an easy question.

One thing that you can do is to practice having a positive attitude about Diabetes and life in general.

1. Lean to say no to others...stop and take time to do everything to take care of yourself. Take responsibility for your health. No one esle caused you to become a Diabetic. (Well maybe one of your relatives might have contributed to it in some ways.)

2. There's a woman from Lithonia who was featured in Prevention magazine a few years back who decided to walk for 30 minutes 3 times a day. morning, lunch and every evening she lost the weigh that her doctor required.

3. See a Nutritionist, you can explore becoming a Vegetarians. Forget about the Southern food, with it's greese, sugar, starch, etc. (Eat light) Eat less, we all can get along with less food than we consume.

4. Thinner people live longer. Take your medicine. Drink 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water every day to keep your kidney from drying up on you and then you have to go on dialaysis.

5. Avoid listening to negative news. Listen to more pleasant light hearted music, go to sleep listening to it.

6. De-clutter your home, laugh more, listen to more comedy videos, etc. Watch children at play. Stop lying to yourself about why you are over-weight, stop using the excuses that others give you to use as crutches. Avoid all negative people.

7. When friends and family come around you with negative complaining quickly get away from them. Let them solve their problems, you take care of you. It's ok to say no, don't allow others to pack your things to do plate so high with their task so that you have no time left for you.

8. Pray and ask for healing and guidance on how best to proceed. Stop worrying about your illness. Worry will only make it worst. Meditate and visualize yourself Diabeties free. Garbage in garbage out, if you put all of the wrong things into your body refusing to eat what your doctors tell is best for you then how do you expect to get a positive out. Discipline like a soldier will help you to do this not for the doctors, not for your family, friends etc. You must love yourself before you can love anyone, anyone, anyone else. Love thy neighbor as THY SELF! Peace and abundant blessings to you and the Creator grant you the desires of your heart.

Exercises,nutrition,hygiene,stress reduction

exercise -walking,jogging any kind of exercise that any person can do but taking into account your energy requirements to prevent hypoglycaemia.you need to calculate your energy requarements for different kinds of exercises

hygiene -baically we talk of foot care avoid cuts when trimming nails and asceptic techniques when perfoming wound care.treat every cut as a potential life threatening thing ,eye and ear care is also essential

your nutritional needs please see you nutritionist to work out your energy requirements according to you body needs

early treatment of minor infectipon by professionals why becoz you are special group of people

Avoiding junk food,smoking,alcohol,high calories sugar and proper healthy diet will be helping for preventing diabetes.

So it is extremely important to manage your diabetes in order to avoid the inception of these more serious and sometimes life-threatening illnesses. A regular exercise routine is also an important factor in the prevention of diabetes. A healthy diet also plays an important role in controlling diabetes. A sedentary life style is a big cause of diabetes so trying to change that lifestyle.
