In late fall, my hive had very little stored honey & i feared they would starve. i also did not observe any brood or capped cells, nor see the queen, but i'm bad at locating my queen. we've had a very mild winter here in MD. i've been feeding the bees. put a pollen patty on a month ago and top-feeding with sugar water. the bees are very active, bringing in LOTS of pollen (at least 3 different colors/sources). what does this pollen-gathering behavior indicate? is the hive rearing new brood? could they just be storing all that pollen? what should i do??? any advice greatly appreciated. thanks!
