Pigment at sides of pectoral fins of plaice?

Hi.
Has anyone else noticed small punctuate melanophores at the lateral sides of the pectoral fins of later stages of flexion staged plaice larvae?

Both plaice and dab has a double row of melanophores along the postanal, ventral side. The row of melanophores seem to be much more punctuate in dab than in plaice, where the melanophores are larger, less punctuate and even stellate-like.

Pigment at the edge of the pectoral fins is supposed to be a species character of dab, but we also find a few, black pigment spots at the sides of the pectoral fins of what we from the appearance of the ventral, double row of melanophores and larvae size would like to determine as later (flexion) stages of plaice.
