Pictures taken saved to card, can access via camera but not when card is in P/C? help

Put card in card reader... go to my computor on desk top,open the card reader, go to the folder on the card keep looking till you find it the high light , cut copy or move them to pc......i have a nikon coolpix 4100 so things may have changed......hope full
