On the south side of Outer Island in Branford there is a large electric motor with a short(about 8 foot) angle iron tower near the motor. Both motor and tower very rusted. No manufacturer plate on the motor. Motor very heavy, over 100 pounds. It would appear that this is some type of warning siren or perhaps a fog signal. It did not appear to be a light to mark the island at some point in history. The island doesn't have electricity, so this would have run either by battery or more likely generator. Looking to see if someone knows the history of the island during the 1940's and 50's to get an idea of what this motor/tower were used for.
