The 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry served along the Oregon and Overland trails in the west during the Civil War. One book about this regiment was published several years ago. Now a new one, "The Boys of Company K", that focuses on the lives of the ordinary soldiers -- the privates, corporals and sergeants who did the work and faced the dangers of Wyoming's weather and hostile Indians -- will be published in 2012.

As the author of "The Boys of Company K, Ohio Cavalry Soldiers in the West During the Civil War," I found this to be a fascinating story, and one that is little known among Ohioans. I'll be glad to discuss the subject with anyone who is interested.
